What is the difference between music-based speech therapy, music therapy, and music lessons?

Speech-Language Pathologists are regulated professionals who use a variety of assessment and treatment techniques which may include techniques that use music as a tool. SLPs can also diagnose and treat disorders of the speech-langauge system.
Music therapists use music as a tool for treatment of many different conditions, and may use music as a tool to address concerns within the cognitive, communicative, emotional, musical, physical, social, and spiritual domains. Please visit MTAA if you are interested in including a music therapist in your healthcare team.
A music teacher may provide lessons to children or adults with speech-language concerns or other disabilities, but does not directly target non-musical goals such as improving verbal expression.

Do you complete assessments for PUF?

We do not offer Program Unit Funding assessments at this time; please visit ASAPP to find a speech-language pathologist in your area who offers this service.

What are your fees for assessment and treatment?

Fees are set in accordance with ACSLPA guidelines. Individual treatment sessions are offered in 45, 60, and 90 minute appointments dependent on individual goals. Group therapy for stuttering is offered at a reduced rate and is dependent on availability; contact us for more information. Discuss our rates with our Speech-Language Pathologist during your complementary consultation.
