Meet the Speech-Language Pathologist
Ashton Freed, MSc, R.SLP
As a piano teacher of over 10 years, I know how strong music is as a tool for connection. When I began my Masters in Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta, my passion for music blended with speech therapy techniques and has strongly influenced my professional practice. I am passionate about evidence-based music-oriented speech therapy techniques such as Melodic Intonation Therapy, Rhythmic Speech Cueing, Auditory Motor Mapping Training, and Vocal Intonation Therapy. With experience in inpatient rehabilitation as well as community services, I have experience in the assessment and treatment of a wide variety of disorders in both pediatric and adult populations. I believe in neurodiversity affirming approaches, building on clients' strengths, and giving clients the tools to become the masters of their own speech-language journey.
